This specialist course is aimed at non-lawyers and lawyers in Local Authorities who are starting out on presenting cases
The course will:
- Give you confidence in presenting guilty pleas, and presentations in the County Court
- Show you how to present the case for the Prosecution and/or Claimant
- Show you how to tackle examination in chief
- Help you to deal with problems and the unexpected
- Develop your confidence as an advocate
- Deal with the control of your nerves!
- Teach you about eye contact, poise and posture
The aim is to give encouragement and to allow delegates to practice, in a workshop style, presentation of cases in the Magistrates and the County Court.
You will learn about:
- Presentation skills – establishing rapport with the court
- Making yourself understood
- How to use notes and how to handle papers
- Dealing with witnesses
- Basic court procedure
